Speaking to a meeting of public employees in Maputo, Chapo admitted delays in paying wages and overtime payments. But he claimed that progress has been made thanks to the collective effort of the government machine and the individual commitment of each public official. “In terms of political, economic and social stability, we have managed to resume the routine of normal work”, he claimed. “This was only possible because each of you did his or her part”. Chapo recalled that he has held a series of meetings with public employees across the country. “I have gone from north to south, meeting with colleagues in all the provinces”, he said, “and today, in Maputo, we are concluding this cycle of meetings.
